Abstract
Clinical experience with a case of congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis is reported.
This 55-day-old male, second child, started to vomit from the end of three weeks after birth, which soon became forceful and projectile in character accompanying constipation. No bile was contained in vomitus. Peristaltic waves were visible sweeping from left to right and a thumb-sized hard-mass was palpable in the pyloric region. Upper G-I series showed narrowing of the pyloric canal and dilatation of the stomach with little barium passing through the pylorus.
Fredet-Rammstedt pyloromyotomy was performed after one day¢¥s preoperative preparation.
His postoperative course was uneventful and discharged on the thirteenth postoperative day with weight gain of 1.4 Kg.
